Wolmanized CCA
Wolmanized CCA
Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) is a chemical preservative which enhances the durability of utility poles by altering the wood’s makeup so that it is unsuitable as a food source for fungi and termites. Wolmanized® CCA poles are protected by an oxide formulation of CCA Type C – a mixture of stable metallic oxides which, when forced under pressure into the wood become fixed in the wood, preventing migration and evaporation. The treated poles are highly leach-resistant. CCA treated products have been proven to be a renewable and eco-friendly solution. Since Wolman preservative is an oxide formulation of CCA, it not only provides optimal long-term protection, but also low conductivity and low corrosivity.
Major Benefits of CCA Treated Products:
- CCA has no odor, is dry to the touch even right out of the pressure cylinder
- The properties of the wood are essentially unchanged during the treating process
- Can be touched and handled without special safety precautions
- No need to rotate poles during storage because of the emulsion’s high viscosity
- ET retention of oil can be readily verified by inspection agencies – a difficult test with other additives
- RUS-m20 (formerly REA) m20 approved
- The longevity of CCA treated wood – resistance to termites and fungal decay for half a century
- Excellent climbing characteristics confirmed by numerous field-climbing trials on both new and aged poles
- No need for future groundline remedial treatment, since fixation of CCAs virtually eliminates preservative migration
- Low corrosivity
Kisatchie Treating Conforms to ASTM Codes for Pilings.
